Made It

Turns it was just a bolt that needed tightening. Mr. Penske repair man assures us we’re good to go (thankfully without and truck transfer). We were just a bit delayed, but made it to Atlantic without any problems. Off to Denver tomorrow!

Moving SUCKS!

So far it hasn’t been a real great start. All we had to do was hook up my car and hit the road. After hooking up the trailer, we noticed a pretty large puddle of red fluid on the ground dripping from our truck. So we’re waiting at the Penske shop for the final say from the mechanic. I’m scared that we’re going to have to unload and load up another truck. Have I mentioned moving SUCKS! More to follow…

Wedding Whirlwind

These last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind for Scott and me.  Our wedding was absolutely fantastic.  Ok, I might be a little biased.  But really, it was so great to see everyone and celebrate.  We have some wedding pictures that we have been meaning to post for a really long time.  These pictures are from Scott’s camera so check them out if you have a minute.  We also have pictures posted from our rehearsal dinner and gift-opening.

The Wednesday after our wedding we left on our honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  It was an awesome vacation!  The first day we did the canopy tour where we went to the rain forest and did the zip lines set up there.  It was absolutely amazing to be swinging through the trees at 400+ feet!  On the second day we went scuba diving around an island that was about an hour boat ride away from the port.  Scott took his underwater camera case along and was able to take some pretty great underwater photos.  The remaining days were spent lounging by the beach and soaking up the sun.  We did fit in parasailing, which was pretty incredible, I have to say.  Initially I was nervous about a little speed boat pulling me around the bay so I made Scott go first. 😉  He managed so I figured that I could handle it.  Let me tell you, if you ever have the opportunity to do it, you should, because it is an amazing experience being up so high above the water.  All in all, Scott and I had a really great honeymoon.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to our honeyfund account!  You definitely made our honeymoon a lot more fun.

We are currently in the middle of packing…and it’s pretty UN-fun.  After the excitement of our wedding and honeymoon, the reality that we need to pack up everything has finally set in and frankly I want to go back to Mexico!  But we are very excited to go somewhere new and packing is just a necessary evil, I suppose.  We’ll be picking up our 22-foot moving truck on Sunday and then heading out to Arizona on Wednesday, August 1.  We plan on arriving in Tucson on August 3 and then we’ll move into our apartment the following day.  Hopefully it all goes well!  We’ll be sure to post pictures of our move and our new place as soon as we can once we arrive.  Hopefully Scott and his dad can drive that 22-foot long moving truck without any problems!  Oh yeah, and did I mention that we’re towing Scott’s car behind the truck?  Yeah, it’s going to be LONG!

Fast Approaching…

bachelor partyWell folks, we’re down to one week before the wedding festivities begin. Can you feel the stress?!? Actually, it isn’t really very stressful (maybe that will happen later). Everything is coming together very nicely. We’ve got final meetings with all the major players next week before the fun begins and people start to show up for the big day.

Last weekend I had my bachelor party. Best Man Challenge winner, Kieran, planned a trip out to the Wisconsin Dells. We left early last Saturday morning for Wisconsin (with a short pit stop to buy steaks) . Our first stop was Noah’s Ark, “America’s Largest Water Park.” Four of us drove up from Iowa City and met several others at the park. After a day of water slides and wave pools (I’ve got the sunburn to prove it), we checked into a duplex on the lake. We made a quick trip to the store for provisions, and grilled up a delicious steak-filled dinner. After dinner, we walked down to the beach where they had a nice fire pit going. We pretty much just sat around the pit for the rest of the night, before turning in. The next morning we got up and went to Pirates Cove Adventure Golf for a nice round of putt putt. We grabbed a quick lunch and then went our separate ways. All in all, a pretty good time! You can check out photos from the trip in the gallery.

I think we’re experiencing the calm before the storm at the moment. Once things start moving next week, they won’t slow down for a while. After the wedding, Jess and I are leaving for Dreams Resort – Puerto Vallarta, and 5 nights of doing nothing but relaxing. When we come back, the craziness continues. I don’t think we’ve posted about it here yet, but Jess and I will soon be moving to Tucson, AZ. Jess got a job with Customs and Border Protection as an Attorney Advisor. So within a few days of our return to the US, we’ll be combining all of our belongings and throwing them (gently) into a big ole’ truck and driving to the dessert. So, needless the say, the rest of our summer is going to be pretty crazy. As always, keep your browsers tuned to scottandjessica.net for the rest of our adventures… we’ll keep you posted.

One More Month

groomzilla.jpgIf your eyes happened to creep over to the left column of our site today, you’ll have noticed that today is only one month until the wedding. I figured since I haven’t posted in a while (since the exciting conclusion of the best man challenge) I’d give everyone an update on crazy planning that has been happening as we get closer and closer to the big day.

Everyone needs details now! All the deposits we’ve made, and the people we’ve signed contracts for need to fill in the gaps for all the little things now. We’re working with the church to figure out how this whole things is going down, and where people need to be, and what people are going to say, and what songs we’re going to sing. We’ve worked with the reception folks to pick out food (our food tasting was IN-FREAKIN-CREDIBLE!), where things are going to go, when we cut the cake, when we have dinner, and when we start to party. We’ve also been working on what flowers we’re going to have, what photos we’re going to take, how we’re going to get from one place to another, what music we’re going to play, where people are going spend the night… you get the picture. I think I can safely say things are falling into place.

Last weekend Jess had a bridal shower and bachelorette party. I obviously wasn’t allowed to attend, but from what I heard, they had a pretty good time. We’re heading to my parent’s next weekend for a shower there, and I’m having my bachelor party in a couple weeks. Everything is definitely coming together, and we’re getting more and more excited for the big day. July 14th will be here before we know it!
