Two “O”s on the end and a “hi” in the middle = OHIO

We had an eventful Memorial Day weekend. It started with our trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. I like roller coasters, but some of those scared the pants off me!

On Saturday we traveled to Xenia, Ohio, for my cousin, Katlin’s, high school graduation. But first, my family had a bridal shower for Scott and me on Saturday night. Sunday was Katlin’s graduation party. And then Sunday night we celebrated Uncle John’s 50th birthday at a local Mexican restaurant. We celebrated A LOT this weekend, which translated to A LOT of eating. Check out our pictures.

March Madness

I’m not talking about basketball, but I am talking about my whirlwind traveling experience this month!  I traveled to Washington, Arizona, and Nevada all in the month of March.  First, I went to Seattle for a job interview with Customs and Border Protection.  While I was there, I caught up with a friend from law school who I hadn’t seen since he graduated.  Unfortunately, I was in Seattle for less than 24 hours so I didn’t really have the chance to explore much.

Next, my family and I traveled to Arizona to visit my grandparents in Sun City.  The weather was fabulous!  Sunny and 95 degrees every day was a nice way to spend the week.  While we were in Arizona we drove to Tucson (about 2 1/2 hours south of Sun City) because I had an interview with Customs and Border Protection in their Tucson office.  While we were in Tucson, my family and I had lunch with Scott’s Aunt Nancy and Uncle Robert.  It was nice to see them, if only for lunch.  But we will see them again in only a few months!

And last but not least, I just got back from Las Vegas!  I was in Vegas for a friend’s bachelorette party.  It was a blast!  Hopefully the month of April is a bit tamer because all that traveling was a bit crazy.  I still don’t think I’ve fully recovered from my weekend trip to Vegas.

Pre-Bachelor Party Ski Trip

colorado skiingI’m a little late in posting this – been playing catch-up this past week. I was able to get in a long weekend pre-bachelor party skiing in Colorado last weekend. Initially it would have been me and the best man challengers (Jon, Kieran, Corey), but Corey wasn’t able to make it since he’ll be moving to Chicago in the near future (a little thing like where to live and where to work got in the way). We understand Corey! So Kieran and I road-tripped across the long, flat, BORING state of Nebraska out to Denver on Friday. We met up with Jon (who lives there) and then went skiing at Copper Mountain Saturday and Sunday, then returned (across the long flat boring state of Nebraska) Monday. Did I mention that Nebraska is long and boring. It was good to be able to get away for a little while. It was Kieran’s first try and mountain skiing, and he did pretty well. I think I can say a good time was had by all. We even did an impromptu Best Man Challenge on Saturday night (Corey called it in). We had a few three-way games of Rock Paper Scissors. So Corey was there in spirit (or at least via cell phone). We’ve got a few photos from the trip up in Kieran’s Flickr account, or in Jon’s photo site. You’ll may also notice in a few of the photos, I pulled out some mad dance moves, which apparently has become a normal thing to do after skiing. Some how Jump on it always seems to get played when we get back from the mountains… hmmm (this old fresh prince video will give you the general idea).

Hawaiian Vacation

hawaii family photoI just wanted to post a quick link to photos from our Maui vacation (Jess wasn’t able to go). My brother Brian grauated from UNI in Dec (congrats Brian!), so this trip has a been a while in the planning. My parents and both brothers left from Omaha, NE on Jan 5th for Maui, and returned on the 13th. We beached it, surfed, went to a luau, saw whales, hiked, did a few geocaches, and quite a bit more. It was a lot of fun!

Apples and Ohio State

Last Saturday we visited Wilson’s Apple Orchard in the morning. We picked some apples and had apple turnovers, which were delicious. That afternoon we joined some friends for tailgating before the Iowa v. OSU football game. We had a great time tailgating. Our enterprising friends roasted an entire 190-pound pig. Rumor has it that they started roasting around 1 a.m. that morning. Now that’s dedication. Check out our pictures from the day.

p.s. The pig was appropriately named Jim Tressel. Too bad we didn’t have a little red pig-sized vest to put on it.
