And the Answer Is…

Well, things didn’t exactly go as planned from what was mentioned in the previous post. We arrived on the boat Monday and were handed a piece of paper that told us we were no longer going to be visiting Cozumel, Mexico. Instead we would be going to Calica, Mexico. So as for popping the question on a dive trip in Cozumel… that was out.

After looking through the excursion choices for our new port of call, we decided to go diving in Key West instead. I did a little shuffling and decided to bring the ring and see what happens. Well we dove… but really couldn’t see much more than 5 feet in front of our faces. Jess decided to sit out the second dive so, back to the drawing board.

Plan B:
In Calica we decided to go on a tour of ancient Mayan ruins called “Tulum.” So what better place to pop out a ring and propose, right? We took the tour and then got some free time to explore on our own. We wandered around a bit and took a dip in the Caribbean. Under the guise of taking the perfect photo, I whispered to a random guy walking by that I’d asked to take our picture, “keep taking them, I’m going to propose!” He smiled and said OK. I dropped to my knee and pulled out the ring, to which Jess replied, “Are you serious???” I just smiled and said yes, and then she did too. We then had a celebratory roll of apple Mentos.

We’ll get pictures up as soon as we get back… looking forward to seeing you all and telling you about the trip.

I’ve Got a Question…

Today we’re in Cozumel, and it’s a big day (in more ways than one)! We’ll be making our dives to the bottom of the ocean. And there might be a little surprise while we’re down there. It’s a surprise I’ve been working on for quite some time. If everything goes according to plan, we’ll be making two dives. The first one will just be a regular ole dive. Regular outside of the fact that it will be incredible Cozumel Diving! The second dive won’t be as regular. It will be a little bit special…

At the end of the second dive I plan on getting down on one knee at the bottom of the ocean and asking Jessica if she’ll marry me. Since I can’t talk underwater, I’ll have a dive slate with me to pop the question. I will also have a fake ring that I got out of a gumball machine at the mall to present to her (don’t really want to risk losing the real one at the bottom of the Caribbean). She’ll get the real thing once we get to the surface. No need to worry, I will also have an underwater camera with me that I’ll hand off to someone else on our dive trip to take our picture as it all unfolds. So hopefully we’ll have documentation of the event. Since I’m posting this in advance of the trip, I have no idea how it will all unfold so it could be totally different from what I’ve laid out… but hopefully not. The funny thing is some of you reading this might know about it before Jess does!
I’ve provided an artists rendering on how the event could potentially unfold to clarify things a bit just in case your imagination isn’t very good (click for a larger image).

Since we’re out of U.S. cell phone coverage and internet access on the boat is SUPER expensive I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to post how it all went. As soon as I can get to a connected computer, I’ll let you know her answer. Until then I guess you’ll just have to wait in suspense!

Welcome Visitors!

Welcome to all you new scottandjessica.com visitors coming to check out what the heck that e-mail you received was all about. Well, this is it! Dig around and see what you can find… it may not be fancy, but it’s home. Definitely add this to your bookmarks, or at the very least, repeat the domain name out loud six times, or use some of these Simple Memorizing Techniques to help you remember.

Even though we’re on our cruise, I’ve cued up some exciting posts to show up over the next few days. Just trust me… you’ll want to check back!

Bon Voyage!

FascinationWe’re off! “Where are those wonderful Scott and Jessica people going?” you may be asking yourselves. Well, we’re on this big ole boat called the Fascination at the moment on our way out of Miami, truckin’ (or should I say boatin’) it down to Key West for a day, and then on (further) down to Cozumel, Mexico. We’re planning on doing some SCUBA diving in Cozumel since neither of us have been able to get under water for quite a while (since our FL vacation two yrs. ago).

When we return, I’m sure we’ll have a ton of photos for our new photo gallery, so be sure to check it out next week (or whenever we get ’em up there).

Happy New Year!

New YearHappy 2006!

We didn’t end up doing anything too crazy for New Years. We waited up for midnight in Atlantic with my parents. We had originally planned to head out there to watch the Iowa bowl game (with horrible officiating!!!!) on the 2nd, but our New Years plans changed at the last minute and we ended driving out to the West coast of the state a day early and celebrated New Years in A-town.

Welcome to ScottandJessica.net!

Well, this is the first of hopefully many posts to scottandjessica.net. I’m going to be a little bit redundant and write some of the same things that you could find in the “About Us” area. This site is going to be a place where we (Scott and Jess – duh!) will be posting random tidbits about our adventures together. Some of them will mind-boggling and off the wall, while I’m sure some of them will be more boring than watching paint dry (which is pretty boring!). I invite anyone reading this to feel free to comment on any of the posts you see here. Your comments are what make this a fun place to hang out (besides the rockin’ domain name).

So check back soon, and often for your daily… maybe weekly… hopefully not monthly doses of Scott and Jess! I’m not sure how often we’ll post, but we’ll try and keep it as up to date as we can. Also, while you’re here, be sure to dig through our photo gallery (the tab that says “gallery” at the top… catchy huh?). It was built off of Jess’ photo site, so some of you may have seen a lot of the photos up there. Well, my name has now been added to the gallery, and even though I’m in pretty much all of the albums anyway, it has become officially half mine now (so prepare yourself for some great mentos pictures… OK maybe not). Anyway, whenever we’ve got a noteworthy photo, or take an exciting trip, we’ll try and get new shots into the gallery.

Thanks for visiting… Enjoy!
