Who doesn’t like baby pictures?!?
Extreme Office Makeover: Part III
The last two extreme office makeovers have been posted, so we can’t skip number three. Honestly, it looks pretty similar, and it gets slightly easier to do. BTW… we moved to a new house.
Happy Holidays, 2017!
Happy Holidays!
Warmest greetings and best wishes for the new year.

A Few More Baby Months
Well, it’s been a few more months and we have obviously taken a lot more photos of the little one. There have been a few holidays, meeting some more family, a doctor’s visit and some major and minor events. Enjoy the new Owen Album!
A New Family Member
So, as is the trend seems to be with with posts on this site (sorry ’bout that), we are a bit late getting to the big news of the summer. On June 15 at 1:10 p.m., we added a member to our family. Owen Nelson was born – weighing in at 7 lbs 11 oz. The labor went as good as it could, and out baby showed up as perfect as could be. Those first few weeks were a wild ride, but we’re figuring things out and getting into a pretty good routine.
Owen will be three months old on the 15th and has developed quite a bit in short time he’s been around. His newest tricks are smiling on demand, and he’s started to interact more with the world around him – playing with toys and reacting to movement and colors.
We’re having a lot of fun with the new little guy and watching him grow and develop a bit more every day. Hopefully we’ll be a bit more punctual with updates (and photos) going forward.
Thanksgiving Extravaganza 2016
Every two years when the Black Friday Iowa/Nebraska football game is in Iowa City, the family descends and we celebrate with turkey(s). This year we had about 15 in attendance and prepared a fried turkey in the front yard and Ben smoked a turkey again. Two birds plus a lot of sides rounded out the delicious meal.
The day after Thanksgiving Jess and I and our dads braved the cold (it actually wasn’t too bad this year) to attend the Iowa-Nebraska game, and I have to say, that the outcome of the game was lovely. We then came home for some Lasagna to warm us up, and some cake to celebrate National Cake Day (our family’s made-up holiday). Check the plethora of photos (and turkey fry video) below.
Aloha!
Greetings from the Aloha state! We just returned from a lovely vacation to Maui. We took a nice long break in paradise to recharge. We did a lot of snorkeling (saw several turtles), some hiking to the Nakalele Blowhole, and around the Haleakalā crater (the volcano that formed the island). We participated in a Luau where one of the couples we traveled with (Aaron and Katy) got engaged. We experienced the twisty turn-y Road to Hana where we swam in a water fall (brrr!). We ate some great food. We also participated in a beach wedding. The 2nd couple we traveled with (Ken and Nicki) surprised us by celebrating their nuptials on a beach at sunset. It was a beautiful ceremony! So not only were were we in one of the most beautiful places ever, we got to participate in a few life events while we were there. Check out our photo album from the trip.
