March Madness

I’m not talking about basketball, but I am talking about my whirlwind traveling experience this month!  I traveled to Washington, Arizona, and Nevada all in the month of March.  First, I went to Seattle for a job interview with Customs and Border Protection.  While I was there, I caught up with a friend from law school who I hadn’t seen since he graduated.  Unfortunately, I was in Seattle for less than 24 hours so I didn’t really have the chance to explore much.

Next, my family and I traveled to Arizona to visit my grandparents in Sun City.  The weather was fabulous!  Sunny and 95 degrees every day was a nice way to spend the week.  While we were in Arizona we drove to Tucson (about 2 1/2 hours south of Sun City) because I had an interview with Customs and Border Protection in their Tucson office.  While we were in Tucson, my family and I had lunch with Scott’s Aunt Nancy and Uncle Robert.  It was nice to see them, if only for lunch.  But we will see them again in only a few months!

And last but not least, I just got back from Las Vegas!  I was in Vegas for a friend’s bachelorette party.  It was a blast!  Hopefully the month of April is a bit tamer because all that traveling was a bit crazy.  I still don’t think I’ve fully recovered from my weekend trip to Vegas.

Apples and Ohio State

Last Saturday we visited Wilson’s Apple Orchard in the morning. We picked some apples and had apple turnovers, which were delicious. That afternoon we joined some friends for tailgating before the Iowa v. OSU football game. We had a great time tailgating. Our enterprising friends roasted an entire 190-pound pig. Rumor has it that they started roasting around 1 a.m. that morning. Now that’s dedication. Check out our pictures from the day.

p.s. The pig was appropriately named Jim Tressel. Too bad we didn’t have a little red pig-sized vest to put on it.

Davenport

So the bar exam is FINALLY behind me (at least I hope it’s behind me). Things have been happening pretty fast since then. I moved from Des Moines to Davenport two days after I took the bar with the help of Scott and my family. They deserve a lot
of thanks because I had collected a ton of stuff in my apartment over three years. Let’s just say that our cars were pretty darn full. My new apartment is great. I love it! (see pic) Once I get pictures from my digital camera uploaded I will add more pictures to the website.

I started my new job as a law clerk at the Scott County Courthouse on Tuesday, August 1. I am really excited to be working! Translation: I haven’t had a paycheck in three years and I’m thrilled to be getting paid. Everything has been going well so far. I look forward to working there for the year.

Now that school is over and the bar is over I promise to be more diligent in posting!
