A New Home!

Living RoomWe’ve been in for just a little over a week now, and are loving our new house! We’d been looking for a house basically since we arrived in Iowa, but really got serious in late February and early March. We looked at quite a few, and finally found one we really liked, and decided it was “the one.” We closed on March 18th, and moved in the following weekend and have been unpacking boxes ever since (there are still more boxes to unpack… sigh). The house was built last summer, and we’re the first ones to live in it. It has a lot of nice finishes that really sold it for us. It is a ranch style house with 3 bedrooms and two baths. There is an unfinished basement that we plan to finish sometime in the next year with a 4th bedroom, and a 3rd bathroom along with a large family room and a good amount of storage. We’re currently working on getting things arranged and eventually painted. We are really excited to be settled again.

Post-Christmas

Our holiday travels are complete (a lot easier than the last few years flying to and from the desert). We spent Christmas eve and morning in Atlantic with the Fiddelkes and then drove back to Iowa City on Christmas day to have Christmas part 2 with the Malotts. We had good food and good fun (and good presents) in both locales.

FOOTBALL!

IMG_5470This is a bit of a catch-up post from the past two months involving college football! It is nice being back in Iowa City where we can get our Hawkeye Football fix in person! We have been lucky enough to attend several games this season. We kicked it off (ha! get it… football? kick off? ha!) with Fry Fest, before the first game of the season. This year Fry Fest broke the world record for the most people doing the Hokey Pokey at one time. Both Jess and I are now officially world record holders. A few weeks after our brilliant world record win, I flew down to Tucson to watch Iowa play my former employer, the Arizona Wildcats. While we both had a great time (Ryal’s first time to Arizona), the game didn’t quite go the way we would have liked. Then, a few weeks after that, Jess and I both participated in Alumni Band again for the Iowa vs. Penn State game in Kinnick Stadium. For this game, they had alternating sections of the stadium wear black and gold for a really nice effect.

There are several football-related galleries in our photo album:
